Moira Johnson
Moira discovered her passion for teaching health and fitness right here at UVA, teaching as a Group Fitness instructor during her third year of college. She has been teaching, training, mentoring, full-timing, side-hustling, and spreading fitness love for 20 years. Moira holds certifications with the NSCA as a Certified Strength and Conditioning
Coach and Personal Trainer, is an ACE Group Fitness instructor, and has a Masters in Health and Human Performance and a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration and Leadership. Throughout her career, Moira has served as a full-time collegiate fitness and wellness program director and a part time fitness instructor and trainer. She now works in the UVa School of Education and Human Development as a Project Manager while training and teaching fitness on the side for fun! |

Jenni Lynn Patterson-LaCour is an AEA Aquatic Training Specialist, NSCA-CPT, CEC Provider, an International Aquatic Fitness Presenter and the creator of S’WET™. She has been working one-on-one with clients and teaching aquatic fitness classes in New York City for almost two decades. Jenni’s S’WET™ structure takes H.I.I.T. and strength training to a new level in the pool! She believes the perception of water fitness is transforming the way people cross train and soon ALL ages, abilities and genders will be making waves in the pool together! Noodle Rx:
Saturday, February 18th, 1 hour This intense but low-impact workout was created to accommodate students of various heights and fitness levels in a shallow-water class. The first segment focuses on creating class content with grounded moves and the other two segments demonstrate how to incorporate a noodle to provide creative challenges and reduce impact. |
S'WET™ Boot Camp:
Saturday, February 18th, 1 hour Get your students energized with our high-intensity boot camp classes! By combining circuit training with creative exercises and equipment, this course offers new ways to optimize your pool space with some hardcore aquatic training, helping students achieve results they want. |
Turf to Surf
Sunday, February 19th, 9am-1pm
Turf to Surf will help you sub a water class by learning how to build a balanced workout using base moves, as well as modifications to help your participants. Design Strength and HIIT circuits using common pool equipment to progress or regress workouts and work together in teams to brainstorm on how to build an effective class for your students! This course will give you a road map on what educational steps to take to continue to grow and elevate your aquatic fitness teaching skills.
*Note, participants that register for Turf to Surf agree to stay for the full 4-hours. CECs are awarded for the Turf to Surf workshop separately and will not be distributed to participants that do not participate in the full 4-hour training.
