Chris Stevenson
Chris Stevenson - former Power Ranger stuntman - is the founder of Stevenson Consulting, a full-service consulting firm based in Westlake Village, California. Chris’s current focus is to help businesses and entrepreneurs of all types maximize potential. His expertise stems from his past hands-on experience in all aspects of the health club industry. For  almost 20 years, Chris and his team successfully owned and operated Stevenson Fitness, a full-service boutique health club in Southern California. The club’s success was based on providing an unparalleled member experience, centered on proper staffing, systematic operations, and world-class leadership. This success was reflected in the club’s NPS, which was consistently in the 90s (industry average is in the 40s). Chris recently founded Be Military Fit California to bring the world-renowned brand to the U.S. Be Military Fit is the world leader in military fitness and outdoor training. In addition, Chris is an international speaker who regularly presents at IHRSA, IDEA, Club Industry, and many other fitness and business events. He also sits on the board of directors of IHRSA and the Customer Engagement Academy. From health and wellness to business strategies, Chris has the unique ability to instantaneously connect with people and to present viable, applicable lectures that resonate with every audience.

Tony Gregory
Tony Gregory, M.S., serves as an Assistant Director of University Well-Being & Recreation for the Well-Being & Fitness program area at Ohio University. With 10 years of experience in working in the field of health and wellness as a Personal Trainer, Health Coach, Group Fitness Instructor, and Program Administrator, Tony has worked with hundreds of clients, ranging in age from youth to elderly, using motivational interviewing techniques and SMART goal setting to help them reach their wellness goals. Tony earned his undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition in 2014 from The Ohio State University, and earned his graduate degree from Ohio University in 2016 from Ohio University’s Recreation Studies program.

Lauren George is the Co-Creator of the Enhanced Barre Above Program, Creator of the Musicality Method, Co-Owner of FitBiz Retreat, Fit and Fierce on the Mic Podcast host, adjunct faculty at Clemson University, former studio owner, and a Master Trainer for Balletone. She has had a love for movement since a young age and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Texas A&M University and Master’s Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies from University of North Texas. She was named EMPOWER! Fusion Education Partner of the Year in 2018. Lauren has had the pleasure of leading the group fitness programs at The Baylor Tom Landry Fitness Center, Florida State University, and Todd Pilates and Fitness. Most of all, Lauren is passionate about helping participants understand that fitness can be FUN!

Charla Truesdale, MA, C-WYT
Charla Truesdale is Founder and President of Warrior Spirit Project (WSP), an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps Veterans and First Responders cultivate resilience and develop meaningful community connections through trauma-informed yoga and meditation. Before starting WSP in 2015, she retired as a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) with more than 25 years of professional leadership in health, fitness, and wellness promotion working directly with U.S. military and Department of Defense personnel in the U.S. and abroad. While living in Jacksonville, NC, she also taught at Coastal Carolina Community College and at East Carolina University as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Charla has been certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) since 1991, holds all four ACE certifications, and has been active as a Subject Matter Expert with ACE for the last ten years. She is passionate about bringing opportunities for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing to our nation’s warriors, seeking to help them discover a renewed sense of well-being, connection, and purpose in their lives.

Trauma-Informed Teaching, Training, and Coaching

​No one is untouched by trauma, and clients with a history of traumatic experience or Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) have unique needs and responses that warrant recognition and consideration. This session is designed to raise awareness of the general impact of trauma on the mind and body and will also take a closer look at the unique culture of military and first responder clients. Practical recommendations will be provided for teaching, training, and coaching from a trauma-informed perspective, which can enhance trust and improve overall participant experiences. The session will conclude with a short Steady Warriors class, applying many of these recommendations for a first-hand experience.

Alessandro Pisanu
Alessandro Pisanu is a certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Trainer, and Functional Fitness Trainer from Turin, Italy. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Sport Science from UNITO in Turin, Italy in 2017. He is currently completing his Master's degree in Physical Education and Adapted Physical Activity (APA) to expand his skills in the field. In 2020, after working for one of the most prestigious fitness clubs in Turin for several years, he decided to expand his passion for fitness in the virtual world by teaching functional step classes on Facebook and Instagram. This created an amazing community of people from all over the World and allowed Alessandro to share his passion with them. Functional Step Class

Functional Step is a high-intensity bodyweight training with functional movements using a step or a reference point on the floor. You will move to the beat of the music with sequences of functional movements that are always different. You will work on the major muscle groups. Let’s work hard, sweat, and have fun at the same time! What will you need? A step or a reference point on the floor and a bottle of water, I’ll take care of the rest!
​Functional Step Workshop

Introduction to the future, a revolutionary music-driven cardio-functional workout. Step classes are back! Discover the format that is making the entire World crazy! Functional Step is a functional bodyweight workout, combining various functional moves such as squats, lunges, planks, and push-ups using a step. Similar to HIIT, Functional Step combines high-intensity moves with periods of low-intensity moves. Functional Step is a music-driven workout, building a choreography during the class (normally 2-3 blocks in one hour class) like a traditional aerobics step class, combining all blocks and showcasing the entire choreography at the end of the class. This workshop will include a 20-minute master class followed by 30 minutes of educational content. This workshop is not for fitness instructors to be able to teach the format.

Southeast Collegiate Fitness Expo

The Southeast Collegiate Fitness Expo is the premier university fitness & wellness experience on the east coast. More than 500 attendees from 40 to 50 universities come together each year for a weekend of networking, continuing education, and fun! The 2021 Fitness Expo at ECU marks the 28th year of the event, which began as a 1 day choreography exchange between the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and James Madison University.  This is the first year that it will be held BOTH in-person and virtually!
